There's also a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 174 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes standard with the continuously variable transmission and is offered with the EX, EX-L, and Touring trim levels.
The great thing about the Honda Civic is the fact that no matter which trim level you choose, you're certain to get a variety of comfort, safety, and technology features to enjoy. Take, for instance, the base LX trim. This trim gets you LED running lights, a USB port, a height-adjustable drivers seat, automatic climate control, a rearview camera, and much more. The 2019 Civic now has the Honda Sensing package as standard, giving you many safety features including lane departure warning, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking, and much more.
The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta
The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta is available in five separate trim levels: S, SE, R-Line, SEL, and SEL Premium. A turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine comes with each trim. It produces 147 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The base S trim gets you a standard six-speed manual transmission, but drivers can select an eight-speed automatic instead. The eight-speed automatic is standard for the SE, R-Line, SEL, and SEL Premium trim levels.
When it comes to the base Jetta, you receive many of the same or similar features as the base Civic. Some of the features you receive are LED headlights and taillights, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a USB port, air conditioning, and more. Unfortunately, safety features such as rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking don't come standard. To add these safety features, you'll have to equip the Driver Assistance package to the base trim.
How Can You Choose?
Both the 2019 Honda Civic and the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta have many positive attributes. They both provide numerous trim levels, performance options, and features. However, there seems to be a clear winner with this race. Safety is an extremely important part to any vehicle, and you just can’t put a price on it.
