2024 Odyssey vs. 2024 Sienna in Clifton, NJ

2024 Honda Odyssey vs. 2024 Sienna

The 2024 Honda Odyssey and the 2024 Toyota Sienna are two of a handful of minivans that you can buy in the United States. Once an extremely popular segment, minivans have largely been upstaged by three-row crossovers and SUVs. However, some buyers still prefer the traditional looks and spacious interior of a minivan.

If you’re one of those buyers, we’re here to help with our minivan comparison. We’ll put the 2024 Odyssey against the 2024 Sienna in a Honda vs. Toyota match-up. Each minivan’s interior, performance, and safety features will be examined. Then, we can help you pick a winner to buy and drive for many years.

However, come to Garden State Honda if you’d like to test-drive a brand-new 2024 Odyssey. Located in Clifton, NJ, we’ve got a great array of vehicles to check out. We’ll even help you pick the right trim and equip it with appealing options.

Interior Comparison

The 2024 Odyssey and the 2024 Sienna have spacious 163 cubic-foot passenger cabins. This is more than many three-row midsize SUVs. Hence, either vehicle can seat up to eight adults in comfort. The 2024 Sienna even offers captain chairs. However, selecting this reduces the seating capacity to seven. Since there’s enough space for everyone, you don’t need this option.

However, the 2024 Odyssey excels with its second-row Magic Seats. These specially designed seats can be slid fore and aft, allowing you to adjust second- and third-row leg space. They can also be reclined and folded for more cargo capacity. You can even remove them altogether. Hence, the 2024 Odyssey can offer more cargo space when the third row is stowed, and the Magic Seats are removed. You can’t do this with the 2024 Sienna. With all three rows in place, either minivan has 33 cubic feet of cargo space.

The 2024 Odyssey comes with two optional features that are useful for parents with small children. The CabinWatch® system lets the driver visually monitor third-row occupants via a camera. Then, they can engage in two-way communication via the CabinTalk® system. These two systems aren’t available for 2024 Sienna buyers. However, either minivan can be specified with a rear entertainment system. This is excellent for keeping kids or teenagers occupied during long drives.

Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard for either minivan, as are Bluetooth® hands-free and audio streaming capabilities. They also come with part-digital instrument clusters. Higher trims gain tri-zone climate control and heated first plus outboard second-row seats. The 2024 Odyssey also comes with a Bose premium speaker system on top trims, and it offers USB charging ports for every row.

Finally, the 2024 Odyssey boasts a quieter cabin than the 2024 Sienna. This is due to every model having Active Noise Cancellation. The system monitors road and engine noise and generates opposing frequencies to cancel them out. You don’t get this with the 2024 Sienna.

Performance Comparison

The 2024 Odyssey range comes with a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated engine that makes 280 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque. It is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission and drives the front wheels. Independent testers have praised the engine’s smoothness and its 0-to-60 time of 6.5 seconds. They’ve also remarked that the 2024 Odyssey is a treat to drive for enthusiast drivers. It offers entertaining handling characteristics but doesn’t compromise ride comfort. That’s rare for the segment, as most minivans are geared toward comfort and cruising only.

Toyota provides the 2024 Sienna in hybrid form only. All variants pack a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine, plus two electric motors and a CVT gearbox. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is optional. This adds a third electric motor for the rear axle. In either form, the system provides 245 horsepower. Independent testing has scored a 7.5-second time for the 0-60 benchmark. Testers also noted that the 2024 Sienna isn’t pleasant to drive hard, preferring slower cruising. They also found its engine note to be apparent in the cabin and rocky at higher rpm ranges.

Safety Features Comparison

Honda fits the 2024 Odyssey with its excellent Sensing® suite. Hence, every trim gets features such as blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking. Buyers can also expect adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and even a driver attention monitor. Crucially, the 2024 Sienna lags on standard safety features. That’s because it only has Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0. Other 2024 Toyota vehicles come with Safety Sense™ 2.5+ or Safety Sense™ 3.0.
