Honda’s EV Plan

Learn More About Honda's EV Plan at Garden State Honda

2024 marks the year that Honda officially joins the growing cohort of auto manufacturers producing all-electric vehicles. The 2024 Honda Prologue will be the first EV released by the Japanese automaker, and it’s the first step in Honda’s plan to release carbon neutrality by 2040. Honda’s lineup currently includes gas-powered and hybrid models, but in less than 20 years, the brand will be fully electrified.

The Honda Prologue was built in partnership with GM and utilizes GM underpinnings. The brand plans to continue partnering with GM to produce no less than 10 EV motorcycle models by 2025. However, a second mid to large-size EV SUV is in the making.

As the brand releases more EV models, it plans to ramp up EV production to 2 million units annually. This ambitious goal will be made possible by its Ohio manufacturing hub. Ohio is home to the Marysville Auto Plant, Liberty Auto Plant, and a dedicated powertrain center, all slated for a complete makeover, modifying the plants for EV productions. Across the Pacific, Honda’s Saitama Factory will also be revamped to shift entirely to renewable energy.

The final cog in Honda’s EV production machine is the expansion of the cutting-edge Honda SmartCharge™ system, which will guarantee Honda’s EV drivers will have ample charging locations once the new vehicles hit the market. While Honda is gearing up to release more EV models, their hybrid cars remain pivotal in reducing carbon emissions. Garden State Honda in Clifton, NJ, has a variety of hybrid models to choose from.
