When it comes to the engine of the Civic, drivers have several options. First, there’s a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 158 hp and 138 lb-ft of torque. It comes paired with a six-speed manual transmission, but drivers can choose a continuously variable transmission instead. There’s also a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine which produces 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. You can also select a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 205 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque.
The 2019 Toyota Corolla offers six separate trim levels. The base L offers a CD player, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a USB port, LED headlights, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, lane departure warning, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, automatic high beams, a height-adjustable driver seat, and much more.
The LE comes with heated mirrors, variable intermittent wipers, upgraded upholstery, automatic climate control, 16-inch steel wheels, and keyless entry. The XLE adds keyless entry and ignition, satellite radio, simulated leather upholstery, 16-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a sunroof, and more. The SE gains sporty elements such as steering-wheel paddle shifters, a rear spoiler, a sport-style gauge cluster, and a unique front-end.
As far as engine options are concerned, the standard engine is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that generates 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired to a continuously variable transmission. The LE Eco offers a slightly different engine that produces 140 hp and 126 lb-ft of torque.

Both bring plenty of features, engine options, and more to the table. However, it’s important to note that the Civic receives the Honda Sensing safety package on all trim levels. Because of this, we believe the 2019 Honda Civic wins out over the Corolla.
